Please find below the minimum basic frame sizes required to achieve a 450mm clear opening – please note that to meet the present regalations you must achieve 450mm in each direction whilst also achieving .33 of a square metre, which means that if you only achieve the minimum of 450mm in either direction then you must have at least 740mm in the other direction.
All sizes shown depict 450mm clear opening
NOTE – on top hung sashes it is possible to fit a fire (egress) hinge to allow a larger clear opening on smaller top hung windows, that have to meet the means of escape regulations NEVER AN EASY CLEAN HINGE.
Fire hinges are not designed to be fitted to top hung sashes, therefore in time they tend not to stay open due to the weight of the sash, as the hinge is only held open by friction - we can not be held responsible if this issue occurs. |
